The Corvette![]()
The Corvette Class, is any ship that is made for Combat that has a crew
of more than 4, up to 20. Types include:
Corvettes, Gun Ships, Bombers, Patrol Ships, Heavy Interceptors, and
Scout Ships.
- Corvettes are all round craft balancing speed, agility, defences,
firepower, size, and weight. Common escort for Frigates, and Destroyers,
or part of a Larger convoy.
- Gun Ships tend to pack much more firepower than the conventional
Corvette, while maintaining defences, and size. Thou there is a drop in
speed, and agility, over the standard corvette. Often carried by
Carriers to complement their bomber squadrons, also found in convoys.
- Bombers are carry some heavy duty firepower, tending to go for
torpedo, or missile armaments, for taking out large ships ranging from
Frigates to Dreadnaughts. They have a slight above average speed to
there larger size engines, but considerably lower agility, and
acceleration, due to higher mass. Found on almost all carriers, larger
stations, and in smaller amounts on warships.
- Patrol Ships tend to be be built for survivability on its own with
little chance of reinforcements. This is why the Patrol Ships tend to be
classified as either Ultra-Heavy Corvette, or Light Frigate. Its
defences, weapons, and speed are key to its success, being primarily
used to Patrol outer territories, to prevent incursions, and during war
time destroy advanced scouts, and take on small fighter squadrons. Often
grouped with Frigate Patrol Ships.
- Heavy Interceptors are known for for there high speeds, acceleration,
and Anti-Corvette/Fighter weaponry. As with all Interceptors tend to
sacrifice defences, for first strike ability, packing in many missiles,
rockets, and small cannons as possible. Every large station has an ample
supply of such craft to keep an enemies out of range of stations
population. Heavy Carriers and Warships need to carrier some as well.
- Scout Ships are small, weakly armed and defended craft, that have
superior sensors, and jump drives to any ship of its class or smaller,
with an above average cargo bay. Used as for scientific missions, or
cargo runs to out of the way systems, and during wartimes, as advanced
scouts staying out of the enemies way by using its jump drive. Found
almost everywhere, they are used by every power, military, or civilian.
It is quite a common vessel in board regions. |
